The Hamilton Beach Custom Grind Deluxe was manufactured as a coffee bean grinder. Users, however, found out that it could function just as well as a spice grinder.
A stainless steel grinding chamber sits atop a black plastic bottom which houses the grinder’s motor. A transparent safety top covers the chamber and is locked unto catches on the grinder’s body. Apart from covering the chamber, it also serves as a safety device that prevents the motor from running unless it is properly locked.
There is a knob just below the grinding chamber with labels that read percolator, drip, and espresso. You can use these as a guide when choosing the consistency of your spice grounds. Coarse coffee grounds are for percolators, medium for drip coffee makers, and fine for espresso machines. Setting the grinder at percolator will thus give you coarsely ground spices.
A steel blade rotates within the grinding chamber to grind coffee beans or spices according to your settings within seconds, after which it shuts off automatically. Cleaning the chamber is easily accomplished because it is removable and dishwasher-safe. The plastic body can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
The Hamilton Beach Custom Grind Deluxe stands 9.45 inches tall and has a diameter of 5.5 inches. As the power cord can be retracted when not in use, it does not unnecessarily clutter up your kitchen. These, along with the combination of the stainless steel chamber and black plastic body, make it a suitable appliance for display in contemporary kitchens.
