These are better processed with burr grinders. Flour from them, however, are not as fine as those from the stone grinders. Retsel Corporation, the makers of the Little Ark, sells a conversion kit for motorizing this hand-cranked mill consisting of pulleys and belts. They do not sell motors, though. You will need to buy a suitable one elsewhere and install it yourself. Do-it-yourselfers may have no problem with this, but to those whose only interest in the grinder is the flour it produces, it may be a challenge.
The thumbscrew that releases the grinding heads also adjusts the coarseness of the grounds. The tighter it is screwed in, the finer the grounds. With this adjustment you can get either superfine flour or cracked grains.
