Schinitzer’s Model 1295 stone mill features large basalt and magnesite stones that are self-sharpening for its grinders. These easily and effectively grind grains and seeds of all sizes such as wheat, oats, barley, buckwheat, corn, rice, and rye. They can also process oily seeds but only to a coarse ground. If you want finely ground oily seeds, you will need to mixed them with either wheat or rye on a ratio of 1:1.
The crank handle is long thus multiplying the manual effort given to rotating it. This makes grinding less strenuous that even children can do it. The mill also has an infinite texture adjustment knob allowing you to choose from coarse grains for cereals to fine flour for baking. Grain or seeds from the hopper with a capacity of approximately five cups can be ground at the rate of 80 grams of fine flour or 130 grams of coarse or cracked grain per minute with 80 revolutions of the large grinding stones.
The mill is secured to you work table or countertop with steel clamps that prevent unwanted movement and vibrations while milling. It weighs about 8 kilograms and measures 16.5 cm wide, 52 cm high, and 35.5 cm deep.
