The casing of the Waldner Biotech Single Grain Mill is made of beautifully-finished solid alder. This makes the mill a great addition to any kitchen, but more particularly one with a traditional design, or one that features wooden cupboards, cabinets, or hutches.
It stands 300 millimeters with a diameter of 160 millimeters. It is a bit tall, but this could probably be expected from a mill with a one kilogram hopper capacity. Its footprint, on the other hand, is rather small. This means you can use it to highlight your work table or countertop without sacrificing too much of your space.
The Waldner Biotech grinds grain such as wheat, rye, oats, barley, or rice; oil seeds such as flax seeds, rapeseeds, or sunflower seeds; and maize. These are ground in a 90-millimeter diameter millstone that is made of a combination of ceramic and corundum. It is self-sharpening and is expected to last a lifetime.
A 360-watt industrial grade motor activates the millstone. It is a quiet yet robust powerhouse that is guaranteed to provide excellent and long service. An insulation panel separates the motor from the self-cleaning milling chamber. This keeps the temperature around the grains low thus preserving their nutrient contents.
The texture of the grounds can be adjusted by rotating the hopper. A printed scale around the hopper indicates the adjustments from light fine flour to coarse grist.
